Most recruiters find candidates by running keyword searches in LinkedIn Recruiter, not by scrolling a feed. That makes your profile a search result before it is a story. If the terms a recruiter would type are not in your headline, About section, and experience, you are not in the result set — regardless of how good your experience is.

Your headline carries disproportionate weight because it is both a ranking factor and the line that decides whether anyone clicks. "Senior Software Engineer" is accurate and generic. A headline that names your specialism, your stack, and the outcome you deliver is searchable and gives a reason to open the profile.

The most common mistake is writing About as a third-person career summary. Only the first two lines are visible before the reader has to click "see more", which means those two lines are doing nearly all the work — and most profiles spend them on a throat-clearing sentence.

This review restructures the section so the first two lines state what you do and who you do it for, then loads the remainder with the keywords and evidence that make you findable and credible. It uses your existing content rather than replacing your voice.
