A business analyst resume should show requirements that became working process, not documents that were filed. Name the domain, the systems, and the stakeholders you bridged, then attach each piece of analysis to the operational change and the number that followed it.

Requirements are not the deliverable
A resume listing documents produced — BRDs, user stories, process maps — describes activity, not contribution. Every business analyst produces those. What distinguishes candidates is whether the analysis changed how the business ran.
Follow each piece of work to its operational end: the step removed, the handoff eliminated, the days saved. "Removed two duplicate approval steps nobody owned" is a specific, checkable claim that also demonstrates you found something others had walked past.
Name the domain — it is half of what is being hired
Insurance, banking, healthcare and logistics BAs are hired substantially for domain fluency, because regulation and process vocabulary take months to learn. Leading with "five years in insurance operations" places you immediately.
Name the systems too. Guidewire, SAP, Salesforce and Workday are frequently hard filters, and a system you have genuinely worked in is worth more on the page than another line of generic process language.

- They diverge more than the titles suggest: BAs work on process and requirements, data analysts on measurement and modelling. Apply to the one your evidence actually supports and mirror that posting.
- Do I need SQL?
- Increasingly yes, and it appears in a large share of BA postings as a keyword. Basic competence is worth listing; do not claim more than you can demonstrate.
- How do I show soft skills like facilitation?
- Through scale and result. "Ran 20+ workshops reconciling conflicting needs from underwriting and finance" demonstrates facilitation far better than the word "facilitation" ever could.
