A match report versus a coaching conversation
Jobscan starts from the scan. You upload a resume, paste a job listing and receive a match rate. Jobscan’s own FAQ says that rate is weighted, in order, by hard skills, education level (only when the listing asks for an advanced degree), job title, soft skills and other keywords, and that word count and measurable results are not factored in. It recommends aiming for a 75% match. The report then shows which skills and keywords are missing, and AI Optimize helps you work them in.
KaizenCV starts from the document. You open your resume or cover letter and the ATS score updates as you edit, with rule-based fixes that apply in one click on every plan. On Pro you can also score it against a pasted job posting to see matched and missing keywords, and use AI fixes. Instead of reading a report and making the changes yourself, you can ask the AI career coach what to fix: it proposes each edit as a change you apply or skip, and applied changes can be undone. If your routine is scanning ten listings to decide where to apply, Jobscan’s workflow is built for that; if you are refining fewer, more important applications, the coaching loop is the difference.
What each free plan actually covers
Jobscan’s free plan is $0 with no end date. Its plan page lists 5 free resume scans a month, 5 ATS & Recruiter Findings, the Job Tracker, post-interview thank-you notes, the resume builder, a resume manager, the Chrome extension and the Jobscan Learning Center. Jobscan’s Premium explainer adds that free users see a condensed skills list, while Premium shows every hard and soft skill recommendation along with the cover letter and LinkedIn tools.
KaizenCV’s free plan also has no end date and no card. It includes unlimited resume and cover letter drafts, the live ATS score with rule-based fixes, 5 resume and 5 cover letter templates, the application tracker and a small monthly AI allowance for coach messages and generated documents, enough to try them on one real application. PDF and Word downloads are Pro features, as are the full list of ATS findings, AI fixes and scoring against a job posting. Separately, the ATS score checker, resume checker, cover letter checker and LinkedIn profile review at /free-tools run without an account; anonymous visitors get three runs in total, and you enter an email to unlock the full report.
Pricing, trials and cancelling
Jobscan’s plan page shows two paid options: Monthly at $49.95 billed every month, and Quarterly at $29.98 a month billed as $89.95 every 3 months. The quarterly plan starts with a 7-day free trial; the monthly plan has no trial. Jobscan applies state and local sales tax based on your billing address. AI Interview Practice is an optional add-on that is not included in a standard subscription, and paid plans list 20% off it and off Auto Apply credits. No yearly plan is listed.
KaizenCV Pro is $24.95 a month, $49.95 a quarter or $119.95 a year in US dollars, with prices in Danish kroner and euros where you are billed in those currencies. Prices exclude VAT, and Pro includes enough AI to tailor a resume and cover letter for up to 125 jobs a month. On cancelling, both services keep paid access until the end of the period you paid for. On KaizenCV, your documents stay in your account on the free plan after Pro ends.
